Gain Confidence
& Trust

I specialise in helping riders overcome confidence issues and have helped a lot of nervous riders go from not being able to even get on their horses to going out competing.

Many riders go through a loss of confidence for all sorts of reasons but it doesn't mean you have to give up doing what you love. I specialise in restoring your confidence whatever you wish to do with your horse. Lessons are fun, relaxed and focussed on both you and your horse's confidence.

With tailored lesson plans, I work together with clients to build a strong relationship with their horse until they feel safe and confident in the saddle. We'll work calmly through the individual areas that you both require to achieve your goals, whether that be; completing a dressage test; jumping a 50cm course; or enjoy a relaxing, fun hack out. Other foundation work can focus on flatwork, jumping, lunging, ground work, eventing, or simply good stable manners.

Here a just a few testimonials from riders I have helped over the years....

Celina Singh Equestrian Riding Instructor Surrey

Having been based with Celina at TLC Equestrian for a couple of years with my older horse when the opportunity came up to purchase an unbacked 3 year old in an auction - I didn’t hesitate. I knew Celina would absolutely provide the support system we would need and I was proven one hundred percent right.

Billy Ice Age (Bubbles) arrived as a lightly backed (I couldn’t even get her into canter) 3 year old in Autumn 2020. However Celina with her lovely, calm, encouraging way of teaching and communicating slowly managed to get us to build a partnership and drummed into both of us the importance of getting a young horse going forward and going straight.

That first year despite the turmoil that was going on in the world the special 45mins I would spend with Bubbles and Celina each day were simply incredible. We had so many exciting firsts, our first canter, our first arena hire, our first hack, our first cross pole. And every time we picked Celina to be the person to come hold our hands and hooves. Celina gave both Bubbles and I such confidence in these new situations whilst also being able to unlock the tension and make sure we were continuing to develop and improve.

A year later I had a very confident rising 5 year old who continued to take everything we threw at her in her stride, be it her first win at BD, her first BE90 event or her first British Novice.

We sadly had to leave Celina and TLC when Bubbles was rising 6 as I took a job in USA but even today as Bubbles marches confidently around whichever horse park we are at I often think so gratefully for the horse I now have and the partnership we developed and it is all thanks to Celina!

I moved to Pound Farm, and started lessons with Celina, in the summer of 2022.  I’ve seen a huge improvement in my riding, which I wouldn’t have been able to achieve had I not moved to her.

She is a superb teacher and always thorough, taking her time to explain things in depth so I understand not just what to do, but why.

Celina has given me so much confidence in my riding, helping me through my first competition. When the first round didn’t go exactly in my favour,  her support enabled me to try again in the next class, which was a success.

Celina is always more than willing to help out, whether that is on the horse or on the ground, and I look forward to continuing my improvement with her.

Celina has been my coach, mentor, sounding board, instructor, (therapist!) for the last three years and has taught me on four horses, all very different in their education, temperament and way of going.

Whilst a dressage rider herself, she is an excellent allround coach and has helped me with hacking, flatwork, jumping, lunging, ground work and even teaching stable manners.

She is particularly good at building the confidence of both horse and rider (I speak from experience having had Celina’s help to overcome some major confidence issues!), encouraging you when needed to stretch to the edges of your comfort zone, to ensure you are continually learning and growing in confidence, as well as helping you set goals that feel and are achievable.

Her coaching style is to focus first on getting the basics right, using her vast knowledge and well trained eye, as well as masses of kindness and patience, and I always finish my lessons feeling like I have made progress and looking forward to the next one!

" After having my old horse for 20+ years I knew getting a youngster would be a shock! The decision to buy a young horse was only made because I knew I would have the help and support from Celina, little did I realise how much help I would need! I thought I could ride by myself for a bit to get used to the new partnership, but we had a couple of mishaps where I came off at speed and hit the fence and went through the fence! After that I completely lost my confidence. I asked Celina to help us, by this point I’d be feeling sick at the thought of getting back on! I was given gentle encouragement to get back on, Celina never made me feel stupid for worrying so much (many trainers over the years have when I’ve had a confidence wobble). Her approach is kind and calm, there were many lessons spent in walk and Celina would point out all the positives, gradually we progressed to trotting on a circle and now I can ride all movements in the school without worry. Celina has improved my riding position and therefore how my horse is able to work. We have been out to dressage and hacked and Celina has been there with us calling a test, or walking beside us out on the roads and bridle-paths. She really puts the partnership between horse and rider first, my boy has had some medical issues that Celina has helped advise on and educate me in the possible reasons and how to help him.
Celina is the best kept secret and an asset to anyone, no matter the level of riding or ability she really wants to help and that comes across in her teaching. I don’t know where we would be without Celina, I may have seriously hurt myself or have given up riding all together! "

We have been having lessons with Celina since September and cannot praise her enough.  We gave Celina the extra challenge of working with both our pony and me after injury (injuries not related!) and it has been such a positive experience.  Celina is endlessly patient and calm.

She has enough energy for all of us and is always clear and reassuring.  Under her guidance our pony is doing really well and I am relearning how to enjoy my riding whilst unlearning all my bad habits!  Lessons are tailored to each rider and are very flexible.

My daughter has progressed to preliminary dressage exercises and some pole work and loves her lessons too.  Nothing but good things to say - highly recommended.

I started training with Celina just under a year after I brought my 7 year-old mare. My horse and I hadn’t had the best start, and I was starting to think that we weren’t a great match. She was very different from my other horse, and I was losing confidence in my ability to ride. I also started feeling nervous, and so thought about putting Lottie up for sale.

Despite this, I continued having lessons with Celina. She was patient and understanding, and always encouraging. I gradually started to see a difference in myself and Lottie, and that changed things. With her help, I felt my confidence begin to grow and I also started riding more positively. I suddenly fell in love with riding again.

Before I knew it, Celina and I were talking about hiring an arena at our local show ground and having a lesson there. I was surprised at how I suddenly felt ready for this, when a few months ago I was nervous to even get on at home! She was brilliant - took everything really slowly, and didn’t push me to do anything I didn’t feel ready for.

We then went competing - a little Walk and Trot Test at the same show ground. I was feeling nervous, but Celina was there the whole time. She drove us there, helped me to get ready, coached us through the warm up, and videoed our test. She made this first competition much more relaxed than I had pictured it!

In the space of a year, we have moved from competing at Walk & Trot to Elementary. I honestly couldn’t be happier (or more surprised!) at the progress we have made in such a short space of time! I couldn’t have done this without Celina’s continued support - she has been an incredible instructor, and gives me the nudge I need when she feels we are ready to move up the levels. I really cannot thank her enough, and can’t wait to see what we can achieve this year!

Celina is one in a million. She is an exceptional trainer who takes a passionate interest in all her clients and their horses, at whatever level they are starting from.
Celina’s ability to assess the horse and rider and to understand their current and future abilities is incredible.
I have been with Celina for 8 years with 2 very different horses and I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every lesson I’ve had and always come away feeling that I’ve learnt so much and with a renewed enthusiasm to practice and learn more.
Celina’s love of dressage and her innate understanding of the horse is obvious to all who meet her, you cannot come away from one of her lessons without feeling the passion she has for the progress of every horse and rider. I would have given up several times through lack of confidence and nerves if Celina had not been there to pick up the pieces and give me the encouragement I needed to continue.
Celina’s lessons leave me feeling exhilarated about what my horse and I have achieved, and for me that is always a winning feeling. Whatever level you start at Celina will train you to the level you and your horse are capable of (and probably a bit further as well)

“Celina has been my instructor since 2010. In addition to being an excellent rider and instructor she is both patient and positive. She helped me choose a lightly back four-year-old Arab mare and instructed me in her training. Under her tuition my horse has developed into an extremely well-mannered and wonderful ridden horse. Celina is supportive in your goals and understands the challenges of managing family, work and riding. I cannot recommend her enough for her technical knowledge but also her calm, encouraging and kind manner of teaching.

Many thanks Wendy”

Celina is a talented horsewoman and brilliant instructor for all levels of riding ability. She is always supportive and encouraging and her simple style of teaching has allowed my young horse to develop both physically nd mentally at a pace suitable for his level of training.

Having Celina on hand to drawn on her extensive knowledge of all things equestrian is incredibly helpful, as with a young horse there are the inevitable hiccups one has to face and Celina's support through this journey has been invaluable.

Celina is a knowledgeable, professional and skilled instructor. What is clear is that Celina approaches her vision from the perspective of the horse and truly understands them.

I’ve always felt safe when schooling or hacking with Celina and thoroughly enjoyed every lesson. She has also a positive approach and I’m delighted with the way I have improved.

I can highly recommend Celina as someone who really cares how you and your horse progress.

I hope to see you soon Celina xx

Celina is an excellent coach !

When we started with her we wanted to build some confidence so we could try a few competitions… Now we’re competing regularly and we’ve even won a few!’

Thank you Celina.

At 50 I decided to do what I had wanted to do from the age of five - I learnt to ride. 12 years on, too many trainers later, my horse and I met Celina.
What a change!
No judgement, no sarcastic comments, no eyes to the sky. So, all I wanted was the confidence and the tools to hack out. A few months later what happened? We were out on the Common on our own trotting purposefully around. We won’t be doing any dressage tests, we won’t be entering any jumping competitions, we will be doing what we like doing - hacking -shoulders straight and open, hands gentle, legs down and feet tucked facing inwards rather than out.
Horse listening not spooking, walking forward not napping, and usually believing I know what I was doing. Both with confidence in the other.
We would both like to thank you Celina.
Proof that you match your teaching to your pupil’s aspirations.
